AWENDAW, S.C. – The Florida Gulf Coast University men’s golf team will travel to Awendaw, South Carolina, to compete in the Hootie Intercollegiate on March 22-24 at Bulls Bay Golf Club. The Eagles will be represented by Nolan Harper, Sacha Ruiz, Sebastian Gamboa, Brett Moore, and Christian Figueredo.
The Hootie Intercollegiate will take place at Bulls Bay Golf Club, a par-72, 7,220-yard course. The 54-hole event features a competitive field including Appalachian State, College of Charleston (co-host), Chattanooga, No. 37 Clemson, ETSU, Furman, No. 39 Kansas, Kent State, Missouri, No. 45 Purdue, No. 43 South Carolina (co-host), West Virginia, and Winthrop. Action begins on Sunday, with a round being played each day. The Eagles are expected to tee off at 9:45 a.m. on Sunday.
The last time out for the Eagles was at the Michael A. Marino Classic, where FGCU finished 11th in a 16-team field at 11-over par at The Dunes Golf & Beach Club. Nolan Harper led the way, finishing tied for 11th at 3-under par with rounds of 66, 71, and 76 while pacing the team with 12 birdies. Sacha Ruiz added a steady performance, tying for 30th at 3-over par with nine birdies, while Christian Figueredo finished tied for 58th at 8-over par after rounds of 77, 72, and 75. Brett Moore and Sebastian Gamboa each tied for 63rd at 9-over par, with Moore carding rounds of 76, 75, and 74 and Gamboa posting rounds of 74, 72, and 79. As a team, the Eagles totaled 44 birdies and 163 pars across the three rounds, with Gamboa and Ruiz each contributing nine birdies…
