A violent scene at Lake Betty Park in Port Charlotte has resulted in the arrest of 43-year-old Lakeshia Taylor.
According to the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office, what began as a physical fight between three teenagers quickly spiraled into a life-threatening shooting. On the afternoon of April 1, around 4:30 p.m., deputies rushed to the park following reports that multiple gunshots had been fired.
The investigation revealed that one of the juveniles involved initially, called Taylor for help. When Taylor arrived, she saw the caller on the ground while four other teens were trying to drive away. Instead of calling for medical help or law enforcement, Taylor pulled out a gun. She later admitted to investigators that she fired three rounds at the fleeing vehicle, claiming she was trying to keep them from leaving.
