Bumper-to-bumper traffic on Lee County commute demands solutions

Lee County commissioners, facing down a nearly $2 billion road-building shortfall over the next 30 years will discuss plugging part of the funding gap with a local sales tax.

A 1-cent sales tax, according to county calculations, would produce just more than $231 million annually. More than $142 million of that would go to the county, with the rest parceled out to the six cities within the county.
