Honor Flight taking 100 Florida vets on whirlwind tour of nation’s capital

PUNTA GORDA, Fla. (WWSB) – About 100 than 80 Florida veterans, whose service spans decades from Would War II, Korea and Vietnam, boarded a predawn flight in Punta Gorda Tuesday, heading to Washington, D.C.

The Southwest Florida Honor Flight will take the vets to hallowed ground, as they witness the changing of the guard ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

The veterans will also have the chance to visit the Military Women’s memorial, the FDR Memorial, the World War II Memorial and witness a performance of the U.S. Marine Corps’ Silent Drill Team at the Lincoln Memorial…
