CARMEL, Ind. — An arrest in a violent carjacking has sparked a public disagreement between Carmel Mayor Sue Finkam and Marion County Prosecutor Ryan Mears over whether the suspect should have been in jail before the alleged crime occurred.
As previously reported, court documents allege 30-year-old Manuel Ettress carjacked a father and daughter at a Carmel gas station on May 26, dragging the father with the family’s SUV and seriously injuring him before crashing the vehicle and running away.
