Sunday night storms became severe and deadly in southern Illinois, then traveled into southwest Indiana with numerous tornadoes and resulting damage.
According to storm spotter reports turned in the National Weather Service, two different lines of storms moved across both states. In the first wave, a tornado in Jefferson County, Illinois is said to have resulted in two fatalities. At least three homes were destroyed and many other structures were damaged in that storm.
Also in southern Illinois, a funnel cloud was spotted north of DuQuoin. Other tornadoes were reported in Edwards County, in Wayne County and a brief tornado was reported northeast of Enfield in White County…
