Docs: 2 men charged after gun trade turns into armed robbery, double shooting

INDIANAPOLIS — Two men face felony charges after police say they planned an armed robbery that resulted in two people being shot on the southwest side of Indianapolis.

According to court documents obtained by FOX59/CBS4, David Rudolph and Dayone Ward have been preliminarily charged with the following:

  • Robbery Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury (Level 2 Felony)
  • Battery by Means of a Deadly Weapon (Level 5 Felony)

Police began investigating the two when officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department responded on March 19 to the 5900 block of Coppock Drive in response to a person shot run.

Police arrived on the scene and found two people suffering from gunshot wounds. One of the victims had been shot through their torso while the other had suffered a gunshot wound in their ankle. Both of the victims were taken to Eskenazi Hospital for medical treatment following the shooting…
