GREENWOOD, Ind. — An Indianapolis man has been arrested in Johnson County after police say he robbed a bank, rode away on a bicycle and then bought a used Cadillac with the stolen cash.
Derek Dwayne Core, 42, was arrested this week and booked into Johnson County Jail on an initial charge of robbery. He is now being held without bond as official charges have not yet been filed.
The arrest stems from an armed bank robbery that occurred Monday morning in Greenwood when a male suspect entered the Centier Bank on US 31 and wielded a handgun.
Biking away from a bank robbery
Greenwood police officers were called around 9 a.m. on Aug. 17 to the bank on report of an armed robbery. 911 callers said the suspect was wearing all white, as well as a black bicycle helmet.
