A 32-year-old Indiana woman entered a not-guilty plea during a circuit court hearing on July 30, facing murder charges in the death of her father.
Serena Dolnics is accused of killing 70-year-old Gregory Dolnics at their Morgan Township home. When the presiding judge asked her during the initial hearing how she intended to retain legal counsel, Dolnics answered, “I’ll figure it out.” The judge ordered her held without bond at the Peter County Jail.
Deputies from the Peter County Sheriff’s Office first arrived at the residence around 7:58 p.m. on July 26 after a relative requested a welfare check. According to court records, the caller told dispatchers that Dolnics had previously made “odd statements” whenever relatives asked to speak with her father. During the 911 call, the relative received a separate message from Dolnics’ boyfriend, who claimed he saw Dolnics covered in blood and stated that she had stabbed her father and might harm herself next…
