INDIANAPOLIS — Officials with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department recently took two teens into custody after officers were attempting to locate a stolen vehicle on the east side of Indianapolis on Tuesday.
According to a post on IMPD on social media, officers were in the 6800 block of E 21st Street just after 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday searching for a recently stolen vehicle. The post stated that an officer used Automated License Plate Reader technology to locate the vehicle nearby.
As officers attempted to stop the vehicle, the post read that two teens jumped out of the vehicle and ran, one of whom was reportedly armed with a gun. After setting up a perimeter, officers located one of the teens after catching up with him in a residential area. The other teen was found hiding in an overgrown area.

When officers searched the area, the post read that two 9mm handguns were recovered, one of which was confirmed stolen. The vehicle was also confirmed stolen and recovered.
The two teens were arrested on preliminary charges of resisting law enforcement and unauthorized entry of a motor vehicle. The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office will make the final charging decision…
