INDIANAPOLIS — Court transcripts show Marion County prosecutors never asked for prison time in the case against Julian Wachner, a famous composer and Indianapolis teacher who was recently given a guilty plea in a child sex crimes case.
Judge Jeffrey Marchal then sentenced Wachner to six years of probation and no prison time. As part of his plea deal, Wachner was also ordered to register as a sex offender and participate in several drug and child abuse prevention programs.
In a statement sent Wednesday night, the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office said the plea agreement was for a sentence of up to 10 years in prison. They added that prosecutors pushed for a harsher sentence than the one that was imposed.
