Biggest Carmel Porchfest to date brings nationwide talent

Fourteen years ago, Aaron Adelsperger had to turn to Google to figure out what he was signing up for. He and his Westfield-based band, The Failers, were invited to something called a porchFest in Carmel.

He liked the idea, where bands get together and perform on porches around town for free. He and his bandmates have enjoyed it so much that they have played in the annual festival every year.

This year’s Carmel PorchFest, which takes place from noon to 6 p.m. Sept. 20 throughout the Carmel Arts & Design District, is the largest yet, Executive Director Sondra Schwieterman said. Seventy bands will perform on 23 porches, and there will be about a dozen food vendors as well.
