Angry mob swarms race car driver after unsportsmanlike crash at Indianapolis Speedrome

INDIANAPOLIS — A near riot broke out at the Indianapolis Speedrome on Saturday after an unsportsmanlike crash angered numerous spectators and led to an angry mob swarming the driver’s race car with police officers caught in the middle.

The race car driver at the center of the crowd’s ire was 35-year-old Dana Tunny of New Palestine. He has since been charged with two Level 6 felonies for criminal recklessness.

According to court documents, Tunny is accused of purposely crashing his number T8 race car into a disabled car on the race track. Police said the disabled vehicle had just spun out after becoming entangled with Tunny’s brother during the race…
