Indiana State Fair Announces 2025 Theme

Just a month out from summer, and the State Fair has announced this year’s theme.

It’s Almost Fair Season

Every year, a host of fairs sprout up all across the state. Varying from small to large and home to mouthwatering foods and drinks, these county fairs are sprinkled from June through July and culminate in one that stands high above all others: the Indiana State Fair.

For many of us, this mad dash of events is an opportunity to engage in family fun with concoctions of confectioneries, odd combinations of foods thought to only be served separately, friendly competition, and fun rides. But most of all, they are a grand celebration of summer. It seems this year, the Indiana State Fair agrees.

Indiana State Fair Themes Through the Years

While a given year’s theme might not be the most consequential part of the State Fair, it does play a significant role in giving those attending something to remember it by. For example, 2016 saw a celebration of the 200th anniversary of Indiana statehood and a “Bison-tennial” event, which showed off painted bison statues from all across the state. Not all years are as impactful, though. The fair’s largest year, 2013, had something far smaller take center stage: popcorn. Often, though, the theme is something in between the two. Last year, the theme was The Art & Nature of Fun, and a floral experience came with it. With such a wide range, it certainly makes one wonder what is in store for 2025.

2025: Soundtrack of Summer

Running from August 1 to the 17th, this year’s theme is Soundtrack of Summer. Given the name, I couldn’t fault you for thinking this is a celebration of music, but the State Fair is taking a broader approach in defining a summer playlist. Instead, this year hopes to capture the auditory moments of joy that come with the season. Think of the sizzle of fresh hot eats, the laughter of children, and the roar of crowds amongst a wide range of activities and attractions.

For those expecting something a bit more musical, you have nothing to fear. Alongside the theme’s announcement, there was an assurance that music will have a large presence this year. Attendees will be able to find a showcase of famous musicians, their album covers, and the stories behind them within an experience titled VINYL REVIVAL, alongside a pop-up record store and more. While I can’t say I was expecting the State Fair to go this route, it’s certainly got me intrigued…
