4 taken to hospitals after train collides with vehicle on Banta Road

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A train collided Thursday afternoon with a vehicle on East Banta Road in Indianapolis, resulting in minor injuries to four passengers who were taken to local hospitals, police say.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department responded to the crash just after 2 p.m. Thursday in the 1900 block of East Banta Road. That’s in a residential area about a block east of Madison Avenue on the city’s south side, and near the Indianapolis border with the Marion County town of Homecroft.

The crash involved a Louisville & Indiana Railroad train, and a black vehicle with the driver and four passengers. The passengers were reported to be stable after being taken to hospitals with complaints of pain and minor injuries. Medics checked the driver of the vehicle at the scene…
