There’s a green and frilly looking plant growing across Indiana that can be deadly. It can kill cattle and poison people, or leave bubbling chemical burns that last for a month or more, even if you don’t touch it.
Poison hemlock can be found in many part of the U.S. including Indiana. While it doesn’t spread as fast as some plants, trying to eradicate it can be complicated, especially if it’s already blooming. In south-central Indiana that hasn’t happened yet but will soon.
Martha Miller with the Monroe County Soil and Water Conservation District said poison hemlock in the Monroe County area hasn’t yet bloomed, but it will soon. Miller said she hasn’t had many reports of poison hemlock in the county this year but other neighboring counties have had more reports…
