Carmel City official arrested on domestic battery charges

CARMEL, Ind. — An official with the City of Carmel has been charged with two counts of domestic battery.

Indiana’s public court reporting systems indicate 44-year-old Jeremy Michael Kashman faces the following Level 6 Felony charges:

  • Domestic battery committed in the presence of a child less than 16 years old
  • Domestic battery on a person less than 14 years old

Public records show that Kashman appeared in court for an initial hearing on Tuesday. As of Sunday, a jury trial was set for Dec. 16 in his case.

In a statement, the City of Carmel confirmed that Kashman was arrested by the Noblesville Police Department. The City placed Kashman on unpaid administrative leave after it learned of his arrest.

“Mayor Sue Finkam was informed last weekend that Jeremy Kashman, chief infrastructure officer, was arrested by Noblesville police officers on serious personal charges involving his family,” City of Carmel Chief of Staff Nick Weber wrote in a prepared statement. “This is deeply concerning and our thoughts are with those affected. The City is treating this matter with the seriousness it deserves.  Jeremy is on unpaid administrative leave and City operations are continuing without disruption.”…
