Death investigation underway after man dies in Indiana DNR custody

WEST TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A death investigation is underway after a man died in the custody of the Department of Natural Resources Law Enforcement Division on Saturday.

According to a news release from the Indiana State Police, 48-year-old Shane Hedden was taken into custody by the Department of Natural Resources Law Enforcement Division on Saturday. The news release states he was taken into custody for resisting law enforcement. While in custody, Hedden complained of pain and was transported to a Terre Haute area hospital.

According to the news release, Hedden experienced a medical episode at the hospital and was pronounced dead later by medical staff.
