A tragic occurrence unfolded on Indianapolis’ near northeast side where a 2-year-old girl was fatally shot in what police have deemed an accidental shooting. According to FOX59, Indianapolis Metro police responded to an emergency call from Methodist Hospital yesterday, where they discovered the child in critical condition. Despite efforts to save her life, the child was pronounced dead shortly after.
The investigation led authorities to a home in the 2000 block of Ralston Avenue, where the shooting is believed to have occurred. There, IMPD officers found multiple firearms left unsecured. Officer Tommy Thompson described the scene as “extremely tragic,” and lamented, “There is a family, regardless of what happened, who is going to be grieving. A young child’s life will never come to fruition,” in a statement obtained by FOX59. Two individuals present at the scene are now working with the authorities as per the ongoing investigation.
