INDIANAPOLIS — Detectives with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department’s nuisance abatement unit arrested four individuals early Saturday morning after an investigation into illegal alcohol sales in downtown Indianapolis.
According to a news release from the department, detectives reportedly saw four individuals, including 18-year-old Farries Maxwell, 24-year-old Lorrease Ingram, 19-year-old Jamar Young and 22-year-old Daronte Tarvin, selling beverages out of the cooler in downtown Indianapolis.
The detectives alleged that the drinks, being sold for $10 each, contained tequila or vodka. The release said that none of the four individuals had the proper permits required to sell the beverages.
During a search of the four individuals, the IMPD officers reportedly confiscated:
- More than 100 grams of marijuana
- Digital scale and other drug-dealing paraphernalia
- Four handguns, one of which was reportedly stolen.
The release said that the four individuals were arrested on the following preliminary charges:
- Possession of marijuana
- Minor in possession of alcohol
- Illegal sale of alcohol
“This is another example of the proactive and collaborative work our officers are doing to keep downtown Indianapolis safe,” IMPD Deputy Chief of Investigations Kendale Adams said in the release. “Selling alcohol without a permit is illegal, but when combined with illegal drugs and (a) stolen firearms, it becomes a threat to public safety. I want to thank our Nuisance Abatement Unit for their vigilance and continued efforts to disrupt criminal activity.”…
