Marion County ranks top 20 for highest STD rates in the US, study shows

(WXIN/WTTV) — Marion County is among the top 20 counties in the country with the highest rate of sexually transmitted diseases and infections, according to a new study.

Indiana’s largest county landed at number 18 on Invigor Medical’s list of U.S. counties with the STD and STI rates. With a population of around 968,000, Marion County ranked fifth overall in STD rate for the list’s midsize counties, over areas like San Francisco County and Denver County.

Marion County has 1,635.7 total reported STD cases per 100,000 residents, according to the new study. The county’s total number of cases accounted for nearly a third of the state’s reported infections…
