Fishers to dismantle historic farmhouse, salvage bricks for AgriPark project

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The city of Fishers has announced plans to dismantle a vacant 19th century farmhouse and salvage some of the building materials for future projects.

The Kincaid House, located off of USA Parkway adjacent to I-69, will be deconstructed due “advanced deterioration” and structural issues including sunken floors and unstable exterior walls.

“We’re at a point where there is such an advanced level of deterioration that rehabilitating the structure would be a significant financial and logistical undertaking,” Fishers Mayor Scott Fadness said in a release Tuesday.

Unlike demolition, where heavy equipment is used to knock down a building and haul away the debris, deconstruction involves dismantling a building to find reusable materials like doors, windows, bricks, and lumber…
