Indianapolis Police Investigate Fatal Shooting on South Side, Search for Shooter Continues

A man was fatally shot on the south side of Indianapolis and authorities are now seeking information on the shooter. The incident occurred earlier today when Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers, responding to a crash notification alert from an iPhone, discovered an adult male with gunshot wounds inside a vehicle on the 400 block of Griffin Road, as reported by FOX59.

Despite being transported in critical condition to IU Health Methodist Hospital, the man succumbed to his injuries, the confirmation comes from the police; they reported also finding multiple shell casings down Griffin Road, indicating signs of a shooting. According to a statement obtained by 13News, IMPD Capt. Don Weilhammer suggested the likelihood of a meet-up gone wrong, “We believe this is a very isolated incident… my guess is that neither of the parties involved more than likely did not live in this neighborhood.”

The investigation, which began after officers were alerted to the crash via a notification system integrated into the victim’s iPhone, led authorities to a nearby yard where they received a report of a suspicious person, per information from FOX59 police are considering that individual as possibly involved in the incident, however, they were not located at the scene and are still at large…
