Hamilton County resident tests positive for West Nile virus

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A person living in Hamilton County has tested positive for West Nile virus, county health officials confirmed in a Friday afternoon Facebook post.

This is the second human case reported in Indiana this summer. A Vanderburgh County resident tested positive for West Nile virus in July. This follows 11 human cases reported in 2024.

According to the Indiana Department of Health, 346 mosquito samples have tested positive for the virus so far this year. Infected mosquitoes were found in 65 counties across Indiana, including Boone, Hamilton, Hancock, Johnson, Marion and Shelby counties…
