Indianapolis man charged with rape and human trafficking from hotel room

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A man who lived at a hotel on the northwest side of Indianapolis was formally charged Tuesday with three mid-level felony counts of rape and two mid-level felony counts of promotion of human sexual trafficking.

The case against Lovie Darnell Grace involved two women. One of them, an 18-year-old, told an Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department detective that the 31-year-old man was “selling our bodies” from his room at the Comfort Inn & Suites North at the Pyramids, a court affidavit said.

Both women told the detective that Grace was using threats and physical violence to control them. Both women expressed fear of retaliation…
