Morning Checkup: Where you can get the new COVID-19 vaccine
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Following recent updates to COVID-19 vaccine recommendations by the Department of Health & Human Services, many are unsure if and where they can receive a vaccine.
Offerings are rapidly changing across the nation and some schools may even cancel vaccine recommendations for other illnesses in addition to COVID-19.
Where can eligible individuals receive their COVID-19 booster?
Over the years, many large retail pharmacies started offering vaccines; however, those offerings are declining. CVS and Walgreens have rolled back offerings in many states. CVS requires a prescription for vaccination in sixteen states.
CVS will not offer the vaccine in Massachusetts, Nevada or New Mexico, even with a prescription, due to state laws. In Indiana, you can receive the vaccination at these retailers without a prescription.
Are some schools changing their stance on vaccine requirements?
On Wednesday, the Florida Surgeon General stated that Florida will eliminate all vaccine mandates. No timeline for these changes has been given and some would require sign-off by the legislature…
