Indianapolis, IN – An Indiana man has been sentenced to 14 years in prison, with two years suspended, for kidnapping his girlfriend and her young children before embarking on a violent spree from Elkhart to Indianapolis, authorities said.
Dhantori Honorable was sentenced in Marion County on Wednesday, Sept. 10, after pleading guilty in July to multiple serious charges, including kidnapping with a deadly weapon, unlawful possession of a firearm by a violent felon, kidnapping a child under 14, criminal recklessness, domestic battery in front of a child, domestic battery of a child, auto theft, and resisting law enforcement.
Crime Spree Begins in Elkhart
The alleged series of crimes started on Jan. 17, 2024, when Honorable reportedly shot his 61-year-old grandfather in Elkhart. He is still awaiting trial for that shooting along with several other northern Indiana crimes.
Shortly after the shooting, Honorable allegedly forced his girlfriend and her two children — a 7-year-old girl and a 7-month-old baby, neither his own — into a car at gunpoint. The woman said Honorable repeatedly hit her and fired his handgun at least 30 times while driving to Indianapolis.
Danger at Gas Stations
Upon reaching Indianapolis, Honorable reportedly forced his girlfriend to enter a gas station to buy alcohol and cigarillos. He allegedly told her to “sell herself” to get the money. When she returned, Honorable attempted to throw the 7-month-old baby out of the car seat and tried to yank the 7-year-old girl out through the rear passenger window.
