Triple shooting suspect tried to escape Indy police by driving on railroad tracks, court docs reveal

INDIANAPOLIS — A triple shooting suspect tried to drive his Dodge Charger down a set of railroad tracks while attempting to flee from pursuing police. He ended up getting stuck on the tracks, however, and caught by Indianapolis police officers.

Carlos Contreras, 21, was arrested late Saturday after a brief police pursuit on 56th Street and Guion Road. He faces preliminary charges of criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon, resisting law enforcement and possession of a machine gun.

According to court documents, officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were already in the area of 5600 N. Georgetown Road monitoring a large car show on Saturday night when multiple gunshots were heard.
