Gene Stratton-Porter State Historic Site receives Old-Growth Forest Network recognition

ROME CITY, Ind. (WPTA) – The Gene Stratton-Porter State Historic Site is now recognized as part of the Old-Growth Forest Network.

A ceremony was held on Saturday to mark the recognition.

Guests heard about Stratton-Porter’s efforts to preserve the beauty of the lands and forest around her, as well as the historic site’s work to protect the 148 acres of woods, prairies, and lakeshore for future generations of Hoosiers, before being invited on a 1-mile guided hike…
