INDIANAPOLIS — A former Wingstop employee is pleading guilty after he allegedly shot a delivery driver in February.
Ezra Watkins is pleading guilty to aggravated battery, and in exchange, prosecutors are dropping a charge of battery by means of a deadly weapon.
A DoorDash delivery driver came to Wingstop at West 10th Street and North Lynhurst Drive right around closing time, midnight, on Feb. 23. Court records say there was confusion with the pickup order, and the driver was told he would have to wait 25 minutes. The driver said a female employee was rude to him, and he told her so. The driver said seven male employees in uniform then attacked him.
The driver said as he ran out of the restaurant to his car, he heard a gunshot and was hit in the back near his armpit. He said at least one more shot was fired at him as he drove away. He went to his apartment and called the police…
