A Washington-based company planning to open the first nuclear power plant in Indiana will begin the process by relocating its headquarters to Carmel in early 2026.
Gov. Mike Braun and officials from First American Nuclear, or FANCO, announced Nov. 4 that the energy company has selected Indiana to build its first energy park. FANCO wants to select a site for the plant, which will not be constructed near densely populated areas, by the end of March 2026, according to FANCO CEO Mike Reinboth.
The company is also working to identify specifically where its headquarters will be, but Reinboth said it will be somewhere in Carmel.
“Carmel seemed like a nice place to be able to attract a lot of talent that we want to bring in,” Reinboth said. “We’ll try and hire as many people in-state as possible, and we’ll be working with Purdue (University) to have some interns and hire graduates. But we also want to be able to attract talented people to move and work for us, and Carmel seemed like a great place to be able to do that.”…
