TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — A father from Indianapolis has been sentenced to 45 years in prison after pleading guilty to the death of his two-month-old son in a Terre Haute hotel.
Jalen M. Byrum was arrested in 2022 after calling police to report that his infant son was not breathing.
Byrum, along with the child’s mother, Alicia Pacheco, were staying at the Econo Lodge in Terre Haute. After the child died, an autopsy found numerous injuries, including broken ribs in the process of healing, and bruising “consistent with abusive head trauma”.
