Nineteen-year-old Avrie Landaw of Whitestown, Indiana, has been named a Lilly Scholar at Ivy Tech Community College. She will graduate from high school in May 2025. Landaw considered both a traditional four-year university and other options. She chose Ivy Tech because of the Lilly Scholars program, which covers tuition, fees, and books for students in high-demand fields such as biotechnology.
Landaw grew up in Boone County and has an interest in science. She first thought about attending a nearby four-year college. After visiting Ivy Tech and learning about its biotechnology program, she decided it was a better fit. The program offers hands-on labs and connections to industry through the Lilly partnership.
