Court docs: Indy man opened fire on woman, dog while they were lying in bed

INDIANAPOLIS — A dog is dead and a woman injured after an Indianapolis man reportedly opened fire on the pair while they were lying in bed.

Andrew Short II, 55, is charged with criminal recklessness, a Level 5 felony; strangulation, a Level 6 felony; animal cruelty, a Level 6 felony; killing a domestic animal, a Level 6 felony, and domestic battery as a misdemeanour.

According to court documents, the victim arrived at Community North Hospital on Nov. 26 with a gunshot wound to her arm. She told police investigators that Short inflicted the wound, claiming he opened fire on her and her dog with a .357 revolver.

According to the victim’s account, she had been lying in her bed with her dog when the angry Short walked into the bedroom with a gun in hand and opened fire. Short reportedly carried the dead dog out into the backyard before the victim convinced Short to drive her to the hospital…
