Tragic Rescue: Indiana Man Dies Saving Dog From Frozen Pond

An Indiana man lost his life Monday afternoon after falling through the ice on a private pond while attempting to save his dog.

According to Indiana Conservation Officers, emergency crews rushed to the scene near the 70000 block of County Road 29 in Syracuse around 4 p.m. Investigators determined that 69-year-old Phillip Hoover had ventured onto the frozen surface to rescue his pet when the ice gave way.

Rescuers pulled Hoover from the water and transported him to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The dog was successfully recovered and survived the incident without injury…
