Docs: Indy woman attacked neighbor with hammer during dispute over $20

INDIANAPOLIS — An Indy woman will serve three years behind bars after she was convicted of assaulting her neighbor with a hammer during a heated dispute over $20 earlier this year.

The Marion County Prosecutor’s Office announced on Thursday that Olivia Colbert was sentenced to four years, with three of those being served in the Indiana Department of Correction and one year suspended to probation. She also received two more years of probation for two other unrelated cases.

Colbert learned her sentence after she pleaded guilty to battery by means of a deadly weapon, which is a level 5 felony.

Investigation, arrest

According to a probable cause affidavit filed in Marion Superior Court on May 5, officers first became aware of Colbert on May 1 when police were called to investigate a possible disturbance with a weapon in the 300 block of W. 25th Street on the city’s near north side…
