West Indianapolis neighbor pays for private plow as crews battle subzero cold

INDIANAPOLIS — Bitter cold settling into central Indiana means much of the snow left behind from the weekend is still sticking around.

With temperatures expected to dip below zero, Indianapolis Department of Public Works (DPW) crews say snow removal efforts are continuing around the clock. But on one west side street, a resident decided waiting wasn’t an option.

Oliver Jackson, who lives near Raceway and Rockville roads, said he paid a private driver $300 out of his own pocket to plow his residential street on Walton Avenue.

“I care about this,” Jackson said. “Let’s get something done… help us out.”…
