In a swift response to a tragic event, IMPD crash investigators detained two individuals implicated in a deadly hit-and-run accident. According to a social media post from IMPD News, the incident occurred on Indy’s westside, claiming the life of a driver in a collision at N Lynhurst Drive and W Vermont Street.
The sequence of events began unfolding on December 11, when IMPD Southwest District officers were called to the scene of a two-vehicle accident. Discovered at the crash site were a black Ford Mustang and a black Chevrolet Colorado, with the latter’s driver fatally injured and pronounced dead at the scene. Having fled the collision scene in another vehicle, the driver of the Mustang was gone by the time officers arrived. The community’s help, combined with surveillance footage, led to the identification of 21-year-old Angel Osuvaldo-Franco as the suspected Mustang driver and 18-year-old Ricardo Martinez-Valadez as the believed accomplice.
Reports indicated that the Mustang may have engaged in high-speed driving or racing, which ultimately resulted in the crash. The getaway car, along with Martinez-Valadez and Osuvaldo-Franco, was soon located by IMPD Northwest District officers in the 2300 block of W 66th Street. Following the necessary investigative procedures, Osuvaldo-Franco was taken into custody for leaving the scene of an accident causing death, while Martinez-Valadez faced charges for assisting a criminal.
