Police: Trucker Accused of Felony Assault Said It Was ‘Too Late’ to Avoid Striking Emlenton Man

RICHLAND TWP., Pa. (EYT) — A 32-year-old man faces a felony charge of aggravated assault by vehicle after Clarion-based State Police say he struck and seriously injured a tow truck operator on Interstate 80 in Richland Township in July.

According to court documents, PSP Clarion filed the following charges against 32-year-old Jugraj Singh, of Indianapolis, Indiana, on December 10:

  • Aggravated Assault by Vehicle, Felony 3
  • Disregard Traffic Lane (Single), Summary
  • Careless Driving, Summary
  • Driving at Safe Speed, Summary
  • Reckless Driving, Summary

The crash occurred on July 7 near mile marker 47.6 in Richland Township, Clarion County, according to the criminal complaint.

Police say Singh was operating a commercial truck traveling westbound when he drove off the roadway and allegedly sideswiped a disabled commercial truck parked on the north shoulder.
