Court records detail how investigators tracked down alleged street racers that caused fatal crash in Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS — Court records filed Wednesday have shed new light on exactly how investigators tracked down a pair of alleged street racers who caused a fatal crash in Indianapolis earlier this month.

An affidavit for probable cause indicates that officers with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were called to the intersection of North Lynhurst Drive and West Vermont Street around 8:12 a.m. on Dec. 11. When police arrived at the scene, they located a black 2009 Chevrolet Colorado and a 2003 Ford Mustang that appeared to have been involved in a crash.

Upon approaching the crash scene, IMPD officers spoke with members of the Speedway Fire Department, who explained they had just finished extinguishing a fire that had broken out after the crash…
