One person dead after being struck by multiple vehicles in Indiana

INDIANA — A Seymour man was killed late Sunday night after being struck by vehicles while walking on Interstate 65, according to the Indiana State Police.

Police said the incident happened just before midnight in the southbound lanes of I-65, north of Austin. A semi-truck driver called 911 at about 11:25 p.m., reporting that he believed he had struck a person walking along the interstate. When first responders arrived, they were initially unable to locate a victim.

A short time later, as the search continued, a southbound Ford Escape struck a pedestrian who was walking northbound in the driving lane, approximately a half-mile north of the first reported impact. The driver of the Ford Escape immediately stopped and called 911…
