Docs: 18-year-old was going 100 mph when he crashed stolen car, injured another driver on Christmas Day

(WXIN/WTTV) — An 18-year-old faces felony charges in Hendricks County after police say he led them on a high-speed chase in a stolen car and injured another driver in a 100 mph crash on Christmas Day.

Eniakin Odutayo, 18, of Indianapolis, was arrested on Dec. 25 and charged with felonies including auto theft, leaving the scene of an accident, criminal recklessness and resisting law enforcement. He is now being held in jail without bond, online records show.

A sheriff’s deputy was on routine patrol near SR 267 and Stafford Road in Plainfield when he was alerted to a stolen Kia Optima being driven nearby. Soon, the deputy saw the Kia driving north on SR 267 and tried to pull the car over.

However, court documents state that the driver “immediately began accelerating at a high rate of speed,” recklessly passing other cars while ignoring the police lights and sirens. The driver reportedly drove west on E. Main Street, reaching speeds of up to 110 mph…
