Community Tips Lead to Rapid Arrest of Suspect in Indianapolis Homicide Case

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) homicide detectives have swiftly apprehended a suspect following community input about a recent murder. Alleged to have played a role last Monday’s killing, 41-year-old Al Fisher II was arrested in connection with the homicide investigation. The incident took place on the 7500 block of S Village Way, where a female victim was found with gunshot wounds and later succumbed to her injuries at a local hospital, as reported by IMPD.

In less than 48 hours after the murder, the IMPD received crucial tips that directed them towards Fisher. Last Wednesday, officers discovered Fisher in a vehicle on the 5400 block of Georgetown Rd. According to the same IMPD statement, Fisher then led officers to quickly pursue in a chase that concluded with a crash and his subsequent arrest after a failed attempt to flee on foot.

Officially ruled a homicide by the Marion County Coroner’s Office (MCCO), the death was the impetus for the investigation that followed. The role of community engagement was highlighted as being paramount in achieving the rapid response.
