FARMERSBURG, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV)— As the ball is getting ready to drop and conclude the year 2025 and begin the new year, the Indiana State Police want people to be careful and safe as they are out celebrating the new year and get home safely after the celebration is over.
Nationally, one person is killed every 42 minutes in a motor vehicle accident caused by intoxicated driving. Indiana State Police also wants to remind everyone that it is not just alcohol that can impair a driver’s judgment. Still, drugs like marijuana and others can impair people’s judgment too. Sgt. Matt Ames is the Public Information Officer with the Indiana State Police Putnamville post, and he encourages drivers to follow the four C’s before getting behind the wheel.
“Make sure you’re using care, caution, courtesy and common sense,” Sgt. Ames said. “You use that four C method, it’ll allow you to get your destination safely and to get home safely. The Indiana State Police want everyone to have a good New Year’s Eve, and we want everyone to go into the 2026 year at your home and not behind the local bars at your county jail.”…
