Indiana retailers worry as SNAP restrictions push customers to shop in Michigan

FREMONT, Ind. — In five states, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) users are now restricted from buying certain foods deemed to be unhealthy.

SNAP food restriction waivers have been approved in Indiana, Iowa, Nebraska, Utah and West Virginia.

At least 13 more states, such as Florida, Texas, and North Dakota, will be enacting guidelines later this year.
