Gov. Mike Braun announced the launch of Smart SNAP on Jan. 1. This policy does not allow the use of SNAP benefits for candy and sugary drinks.
“This policy, a cornerstone of Governor Braun’s Make Indiana Healthy Again plan, reflects Indiana’s commitment to improving nutrition and reversing troubling health trends statewide,” according to a government press release.
