‘We owe it our taxpayers’: State representative introduces House Resolution to investigate Indiana EDC

INDIANAPOLIS — A state representative has introduced a resolution aimed at investigating the Indiana Economic Development Corporation in a bid to enhance transparency and protect taxpayers.

According to a press release, State Representative Ed DeLaney (D-Indianapolis) is expected to introduce a House Resolution on Thursday intended to establish a House Select Committee on Accountability and Handling of Economic Development Appropriations to launch a comprehensive investigation into the IEDC.

State lawmakers have long been unhappy with the lack of information they’re provided on which to make major incentive decisions, prompting Indiana Gov. Mike Braun to conduct an independent forensic audit of the corporation’s accounting and release an executive order demanding more transparency from state-affiliated nonprofit organizations.
