Frustrated NIPSCO customers rally in Northwest Indiana over skyrocketing energy bills

HAMMOND, Ind. (WGN) — With winter still in full swing, frustration is boiling over in Northwest Indiana. Dozens of NIPSCO customers lined the sidewalk along 167th Street outside the company’s Hammond office Sunday afternoon, demanding answers as their gas and electric bills continue to climb.

Wrapped in coats and scarves, they stood shoulder to shoulder, many saying their monthly costs have spiraled beyond what they can afford.

“I’ve never seen anything like this in my whole life. I’ve lived in my house for 35 years and it’s normally like $300 in the water. It’s $800 now,” customer Kim Robison said…
