60 firefighters put out overnight 2-alarm fire at restaurant on Indy’s south side

INDIANAPOLIS — The Indianapolis Fire Department is investigating after crews put out a large blaze at a restaurant on Indy’s south side overnight.

An IFD spokesperson says 60 firefighters worked together early Wednesday to fight a 2-alarm fire that destroyed a restaurant and damaged a grocery store connected in the 1200 block of West Southport Road, near Bluff Road.

All firefighters were reported to be uninjured and confirmed there was no one inside the building as they fought the blaze. According to the spokesperson, officials received a report of people living in the second floor of the grocery store — but that report ended up being unfounded…
