EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) -A cold front is poised to bring the threat for severe storms Thursday afternoon and evening across the Tri-State. A few tornadoes will be possible, along with damaging winds that could bring down trees and power lines. Storms will pop up between 3pm and 8pm and race across the Tri-State from west to east. The greatest risk will be across southern Indiana and Illinois. Western Kentucky will likely see a few severe storms as well. The threat for storms should end by 10pm Thursday night.
Ahead of the cold front, gusty southerly winds of 20-30mph will push near-record warmth into the region. Highs on Thursday will top out in the low 70s; the record high is 74 set back in 2018. Once the cold front slices through, temps will plunge 30 degrees as Friday lows settle in the low 40s…
